At MBL Eye Surgeons our aim is to ensure that high quality eye care is available to our local community, as well as patients coming from further afield. Our treatments
The vast majority of eye conditions can be treated locally due to each doctor having specific subspecialty training. Dr Augustino Clark, Dr Roy Van Eijden, and Dr Alanna Wood are all comprehensive ophthalmologists, with cataract surgery being the most common procedure they perform.
In addition, they each have their own sub-specialist skills. Gus is a fellowship trained Vitreoretinal Surgeon while Roy has specialist training in Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, Neuro Ophthalmology and Paediatrics, and Alanna is a fellowship-trained Glaucoma surgeon. So for example, if a patient requires retinal surgery, Gus will assess and treat them. If a child requires treatment, they will be managed by Roy, and Glaucoma surgery by Alanna.
Ophthalmology Treatments
Pterygium is an abnormal conjunctival growth across the cornea of the eye. We see this a lot in the Northern Rivers due to our high levels of UV and outdoor lifestyle.
